Trauma Shadowing is back!
Want go get some early clinical exposure? The IUSM Surgery SIG is coordinating an opportunity for MS1 and MS2 students who would like to experience a shift on the Trauma Surgery Service at Methodist Hospital. We will pair you with a surgery resident and staff for a 6 hour shift on available weeknights and the weekend to learn and observe what it's like to care for trauma patients.
If you are interested in participating, please read the "Expectations for Trauma Shadowers" document available for detailed instructions and sign up below for a shift. Due to the limited number of available shifts and the high level of interest, we ask that you only sign up for one shift per month to allow other students the opportunity to participate as well. If there are additional empty time slots, please email the date/time you would like to sign up for to osaadoon@iu.edu to be added. In the case you are unable to attend the shift you signed up for, please make sure to go back to the sign-up sheet and remove your name from the list as soon as you know so someone can sign up in your place.
IMPORTANT: On the day of your shift, make sure you show up at Methodist in business casual clothes or your own personal scrubs with a printed copy of the Confidentiality Agreement. Contact the staff who is listed for your shift via Diagnotes or ask the Emergency Room front desk. For more details refer to the "Expectations for Trauma Shadowers" document.
Note: Please return the scrubs to the machine if you are borrowing our scrubs, otherwise the next person will not be able to use them. If you still have scrubs that were borrowed during your shift, please return them! If you can, wear scrubs or bring your own to ensure that you will have them for your time in the OR.
